Early Years Pupil Premium

Early Years Pupil Premium

The Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) is additional funding for Early Years childcare providers to help them to support children to achieve the best possible early years outcomes. For 2025-26 EYPP is an additional £1.00 on the funding hourly rate for all eligible 9 months to 4-year-olds. It should be used to support the development, learning and care of children in an early year’s provision.

Eligibility

EYPP is determined by the benefits a family is receiving, or if the child is looked after by a local authority. For full details of the eligibility criteria see the Get extra funding for your early years provider - GOV.UK webpage.

We would encourage providers to speak to parents to find out who is eligible for EYPP funding. In particular, the parents of children who took up the funded entitlement of 15 hours for parents of 2-year-olds receiving some additional forms of government support, as some of these children may attract EYPP when they turn 3. Providers must ensure the relevant section within the Parent/Provider Agreement is filled in for eligible children.

Please note: For parents accessing their Extended Funding Entitlement, EYPP will only be paid to providers for the Universal 15 hours a child attends. Any additional hours claimed under the Extended entitlement will not attract Pupil Premium funding.
