Understanding The World

Understanding the world involves guiding children to make sense of their physical world and their community. The frequency and range of children’s personal experiences increases their knowledge and sense of the world around them – from visiting parks, libraries and museums to meeting important members of society such as police officers, nurses and firefighters.

Childminding Week 2026

This year, we are celebrating Childminding Week 11 to 17 May 2026. The theme for 2026 is ‘Magic of Childminding’.

The Childcare Choices website has now been replaced with 'Best Start in Life' all internet searches for childcare choices, will now take the user to this website.

The Early Years team provides a service that ensures the Local Authority meets its statutory duty to secure sufficient high quality Funded Early Education places for 9 months to 4-year-olds, and sufficient childcare for 0-14/18 year old's whose parents are in work or training to return to work.
