Thinking of becoming a Childminder?

Do something BIG for Buckinghamshire and become a childminder

What is a Childminder?

A childminder is a person who receives payment for working in their own home, looking after at least one child for more than two hours a day.

What are the benefits of being a childminder?

Childminding is a fulfilling career choice that offers flexibility and a good work/life balance, running your own business working from home. You can set your own working hours full or part time. Some childminders work all year round, some choose to work term time only to accommodate their own family needs. Childminding offers great job satisfaction, watching children grow and learn through play , it can be an incredibly rewarding career and can lead on to other roles within childcare and early years.

The following briefings will give you the information you need in order to start the Ofsted registration process to become a childminder or operate childcare on domestic premises.

Where can I childmind from?

Childminders can register to work in their own home, someone else’s home (for example the home of another childminder), or from non-domestic premises. You can find more information about the different types of registration in this guidance.
