Qualifications/Experience:
- NNEB, NVQ/CACHE/BTEC/Edexcel Level 3 or equivalent.
- In depth knowledge of how children learn and develop knowledge of key worker systems and record keeping.
- Enjoyment of children, interest in their care, learning and development
- Ability to communicate well with adults and children
- Demonstrated knowledge of current practices, EYFS curriculum and statutory requirements
- Very good written and spoken communication skills for report writing, maintaining children’s records and learning journeys
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of child protection issues, safety and welfare
- The ability to work with young children and their families in a sensitive and positive way
- An understanding of the needs and expectations of working parents
- Demonstrated understanding of equal opportunities
- A commitment to keeping up-to-date with developments in early years care and education including attending training courses
Responsibilities/Extra Information:
- The preparation and completion of activities to suit each individual child’s stage of development and interests
- To check daily that the premises are in good condition and that all services are functioning properly
- To develop your role within the team especially with regard as a key person
- To ensure meal times are a time of pleasant social sharing
- Washing and changing the children as required
- To ensure high standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times
- Ensuring a sick child is kept calm and warm and management is notified immediately
- To develop and maintain strong partnerships and communications with parents/carers to facilitate day-to-day caring and early learning needs
- To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children regardless of any disabilities, family backgrounds or medical history
- To assist with the promotion of the exceptional standards of the nursery at all times to parent, staff and visitors
- To be aware of the high profile of the nursery and to uphold its standards at all times, both within work hours and outside
- To undertake other such duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined from time-to-time by the Manager/Room Leader.
- Undertake such other duties from time-to-time at the request of the Care & Education Manager
