Responsibilities/Extra Information:

  • Creating a safe and stimulating environment: This includes preparing resources, setting up activities, and ensuring the physical environment is conducive to learning and play.
  • Planning and leading educational activities: Practitioners should design and implement activities that support children's physical, emotional, intellectual, and social development, aligning with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Observing, assessing, and monitoring children's progress: This involves using various methods to track children's development, identify areas where they need support, and inform future planning.
  • Keeping records and communicating with parents: Practitioners are responsible for maintaining accurate records of children's progress and communicating effectively with parents about their child's development and well-being.
  • Working in partnership with parents and carers: Building positive relationships with families and involving them in their child's learning journey is crucial.
  • Safeguarding and promoting children's welfare: Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children in their care is a priority, including adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Supporting children with special educational needs (SEN): Practitioners may need to adapt activities and provide extra support for children with SEN, working with other professionals as needed.
  • Taking on the role of key person: This involves building a strong, trusting relationship with a small group of children and their families, acting as the main point of contact.
    Contributing to the overall management of the setting: This may include administrative tasks, participating in staff meetings, and contributing to the development of the nursery's policies and procedures.
