Qualifications/Experience:

Level 3 Childcare Qualification
Minimum of 2 years experience in a under 2 room
Paediatric First Aid Training
Safeguarding training (although training/refreshers will be offered)

Location: Little Flyers Pre-school and Wrap Around
Hours: Term-time only, 8:30am – 3:15 pm (with a 30-minute lunch break)
Reports To: Manager/Owner
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Baby Room Leader to oversee our under-2s room. This role is ideal for someone passionate about early childhood development and committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where every child can thrive.
As the Baby Room Leader, you will manage the daily running of the room, support and mentor staff, liaise with parents, and ensure compliance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and relevant health and safety regulations, ensuring little flyers policies and procedures are being adhered to.
Key Responsibilities
Childcare Management
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the baby room, ensuring a warm, safe, and engaging environment for children under 2 years old.
Adhere to EYFS guidelines, supporting children’s physical, emotional, and cognitive development.
Ensure policies and procedure are being followed at all times.
Monitor children’s progress, keeping accurate observations and records.
Staff Supervision and Development
Lead, supervise, and motivate room staff, creating a collaborative and positive team culture.
Mentor new team members, sharing best practice and providing ongoing support.
Conduct regular performance feedback sessions and contribute to staff development plans.
Communication with Parents
Build strong relationships with parents and caregivers, providing daily updates on children’s well-being and progress.
Address any parental concerns promptly and professionally.
Encourage parental involvement in children’s learning and development.
Planning and Implementation
Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities that support the developmental milestones of children under 2.
Create and implement a curriculum that is responsive to children’s interests and abilities.
Ensure activities are inclusive, stimulating, and promote early learning in line with EYFS.
snack and Meal Supervision
Oversee and support snack and meal times, ensuring they are calm, positive, and sociable experiences for children.
Follow all government guidelines for nutrition, portion sizes, and food hygiene.
Encourage healthy eating habits and support children’s independence at mealtimes.
Health and Safety & Safeguarding
If any safeguarding concerns rise follow the setting’s safeguarding policy and escalating concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) as appropriate and ensuring confidentiality is met.
Conduct daily risk assessments and maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
Follow health and safety procedures, including safe sleep practices and infection control.
Ensure all accidents, incidents, and concerns are reported and recorded appropriately.
Inclusion Practices
Promote an inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported.
Work with the SENCo and other professionals to provide tailored support for children with SEND or EAL needs.
Differentiate activities to ensure equal access to learning opportunities for all children.

Qualifications and Experience
Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a baby room (under 2s).
Level 3 qualification (or above) in Early Years Education and Childcare (or equivalent).
Strong knowledge of EYFS, safeguarding (including Prevent Duty), and health & safety requirements.
Experience supervising snack and meal times in line with government nutrition guidelines.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
Paediatric First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain).
