Nursery Room Leader - Tot Town Nursery - High Wycombe

Qualifications/Experience:

A full and relevant Level 3 early-years qualification, such as an Early Years Educator diploma or equivalent. Confirm that your exact qualification is
recognised for EYFS staff-to-child ratios using the government checker.
Department for Education Paediatric first-aid training, often required by the nursery before you lead a room or count within certain ratios.
Relevant nursery experience, typically including key-person responsibilities, observations, assessments and planning under the EYFS.
Good knowledge of safeguarding, child development, SEND, health and safety, and staff to-child ratios.
The ability to supervise practitioners, organise the room and communicate with parents.
An enhanced DBS check and satisfactory suitability/recruitment checks, normally arranged by the employer.
Level 3 is normally sufficient, although "room leader" is an employer-defined post rather than a separate nationally licensed qualification.
Employers may additionally request GCSE English and maths, prior leadership experience, or designated safeguarding training. Your Level 3
must be accepted as full and relevant

Responsibilities/Extra Information:

Supervision and Leadership: Overseeing the daily activities of the room, providing guidance and support to staff, and ensuring high standards of
care and education. Curriculum Development: Planning and
implementing age-appropriate learning experiences in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
Child Development Observations: Conducting regular observations and assessments of children's development, documenting progress, and planning next steps.
Health and Safety: Ensuring that the environment is safe, hygienic, and conducive to learning, adhering to health and safety regulations.
Parent Communication: Building and maintaining strong relationships with parents, providing updates on their child’s progress, and addressing any concerns.
Staff Training and Development: Supporting the professional development of staff, facilitating training sessions, and conducting appraisals.

Team Collaboration: Working effectively with other staff, sharing responsibilities, and fostering a positive team environment.
Policy Implementation: Ensuring compliance with nursery policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
