Qualifications/Experience

Level 3 or above qualification
Experience as a room leader or senior practitioner

Responsibilities/Extra Information:

To assist with the planning of the curriculum using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum for guidance.
To deputise in the absence of the Leader and attend meetings in their place as necessary.
To ensure records are properly maintained and updated, e.g. daily attendance register, accident and incident book etc and that any cash/cheques handed to you are put straight into the safe with the relevant records updated.
Oversee the day-to-day schedules / plans for children and provide for their safety.
Oversee the set-up of the playroom(s) / garden area(s) for the daily programme and to assist with tidying away at the end of the session.
To act as a key person to a small group of children if required, liaising closely and building an effective relationship with parents / carers and ensuring each child’s needs are recognised and met.
To work in partnership with parents / carers and other family members.
To ensure that staff work together in the classroom environment, following plans and performing duties. To encourage, mentor and guide staff as appropriate.
To advise the Leader of any concerns e.g. over children, parents, staff members or the safety of equipment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
To teach children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulating play experiences.
To ensure that children are kept safe and that child protection procedures are understood and followed.
To ensure that children attending the setting receive a balanced and healthy diet.
To actively participate at team meetings, supervisor meetings and appraisal meetings.
To attend training courses as required, share information to colleagues and to take responsibility for your own development.
To attend any conferences, training events or meetings, as necessary and to keep up-to-date with current good practice
To attend outings / parent consultation evenings / information evenings as required.
To maintain good time-keeping and be flexible in working hours.
To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff, which is acquired as part of your job.
To assist in devising the pre-school’s operational policies and procedures, e.g. health and safety, fire precautions, dropping off and collection of children etc. and to ensure that staff are aware of and adhere to them.
