Baby Room Leader - Hoppers Of Dinton - Haddenham

Qualifications/Experience:

Level 3 or above full and relevant Early years qualification & at least 2 years experience with
children under 2.

Responsibilities/Extra Information:

Childcare & Development
Lead high-quality care for babies (0–2 years), ensuring routines are consistent, responsive, and
nurturing Plan and oversee age-appropriate activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
Monitor development and track progress (observations, next steps, learning journals)
Ensure individual care routines are followed (feeding, sleeping, nappy changes)
Support emotional well-being, attachment, and settling-in processes 

 

Staff Leadership
Supervise and support room staff (nursery practitioners, apprentices, students)
Delegate tasks and ensure ratios are maintained at all times
Act as the first point of contact for team queries/issues in the room
Model good practice and mentor less experienced staff
Support inductions and ongoing training within the room


Safeguarding & Compliance
Take responsibility for safeguarding within the room, following nursery policies
Ensure all staff adhere to procedures aligned with Ofsted requirements
Maintain accurate records (accidents, incidents, medication, attendance)
Ensure health & safety standards are met (risk assessments, hygiene, sleep safety)
Report concerns promptly to the manager


Administration & Organisation
Maintain children’s records, development files, and planning documentation
Manage room resources, equipment, and stock levels
Ensure the room is clean, safe, and well-organised daily
Contribute to policies, audits, and inspections preparation
Assist with rotas if required

 

Parent Communication
Build strong relationships with parents/carers
Provide daily feedback on children’s care and development
Handle concerns professionally and escalate when needed
Lead parent meetings or progress reviews where appropriate


Supporting the Manager / Business Owner
Act as second-in-charge on the floor when the manager is absent
Support with staffing decisions, cover, and day-today problem-solving
Help implement nursery policies and changes
Assist with inspection readiness (documentation, practice standards)
Provide feedback on staff performance and room improvements


Be flexible:
You may step into multiple roles during the day
Help across rooms if ratios require it
Maintain high standards
